‘Taking C360 Outdoors’

At our school taking C360 outside allows our children to discover, experiment, learn about and connect to the natural world. We are fortunate to have large open spaces as well as garden areas, a developing woodland walk and pond area, wildlife areas and spaces for outdoor gatherings and collaborative learning projects which all allow our children to develop a vast range of skills as a learner.

Being outside allows our learners to further develop personal growth and academic success. As we ‘Live Our Virtues’ outdoor learning encourages our learners to develop and apply virtues such as cooperation, resilience, resourcefulness, compassion, creativity, reflection, courage and confidence. Taking C360 outside promotes personal, social and communication skills, improves wellbeing and spiritual health.

‘C360 Outdoors’ enriches our children’s learning with staff weaving in core learning objectives during sensory,  fun, hands-on, skill building learning experiences. Children engage in ‘wild’ learning experiences such as fire building, using tools, wild cooking, den building, gardening and conservation skills.

At our school we are always finding ways of improving our outdoor areas. Our Eco Committee consists of children who are particularly passionate about improving outdoor aspects and lead on improvement projects. The Eco Committee led our school in achieving the Level 5 RHS School Gardening Awards and now have plans to improve the pond area in the coming months.

We work closely with our parents and wider community, including the local community wildlife trust group, developing plans for our school to engage in environmental studies as well as developing an understanding of how we can interact with the elements and develop a greater awareness of the world in which we live.
