Little Otters Dolton Pre-School

Little Otters can be found in our school building and are very much part of our school. The lead at Dolton preschool is Mrs Gemma Higlett who works closely with the EYFS lead of Clinton and Dolton, Mrs Lyndsey Bolton.

Little Otters can offer a fully equipped and spacious setting for young children, we have a range of indoor and outdoor spaces where our children can play, learn and have fun!

We currently are open to take 2 to 4-year-olds on a Mondays and Tuesdays from 9.15am - 3pm. Children can take just a morning, just an afternoon session or stay for both morning and afternoon sessions as we have a lunch club 12.30 - 1.30.

At Little Otters we embody the school vision where we nurture, love and learn whilst aspiring for excellence. We ensure children are safe and happy in a play based environment, in which they can learn to socialise, gain independence and learn new skills to provide the foundations for good future progress throughout school and life. We recognise that when your child comes here he/she has already learnt a lot from you at home. We want to build on what your child knows and can do, continually taking them further on to the next stage of learning.

We strongly believe that your child's education is a partnership between home and Little Otters and therefore parents are always welcome to come and see us.

What will children do during a session?

Your child can take part in a wide range of activities including both indoor and outdoor based activities. Your child will learn through activities he or she has chosen or from those that are led by an adult. Children in the Early Years learn through our continuous provision which is often linked to the schools overriding theme for the term. Activities are supported by caring adults who will work closely with you to ensure your child makes progress. We keep careful progress records for each child which is mainly done through a programme called tapestry.Parents can access this from a device through a personal password meaning you can see updates that day of what your little one is doing.

We set up a range of learning activities some of which include; Role Play, Messy Play, Ride on, Small Word Play, Music and Dance, Song and Rhyme, Story Time.
